Bring the device with you

This is the single most useful thing on this page. Coils are not interchangeable between brands and often not between models of the same brand. A Uwell Caliburn pod does not fit a Caliburn G. A SMOK RPM coil does not fit an RPM 5.

Turn up with the tank, the pod or the whole device in your pocket and whoever is at the counter will match it in a few seconds. Describe it over the phone and you’ll probably go home with the wrong one.

If the device is long gone, the resistance and the model name printed on the old coil are usually enough.

Two things worth knowing

Prime a new coil. Wet the cotton through the openings, fill the tank, then leave it five minutes before you draw on it. Skipping that is the main reason a new coil tastes burnt on day one.

Coils are a consumable. They last days to weeks depending on what you run through them and how hot. Sweeter liquids kill them faster. That isn’t a fault in the coil.
