Coconut cubes take a few minutes on a burner and burn clean and long. Quick-light is faster and more convenient and most regulars move away from it. If you’re setting up at home, coconut is the one to learn. Bowl material changes the session. Clay holds heat evenly and is the traditional choice. Phunnel bowls keep juices in the bowl rather than down the stem. Silicone is nearly indestructible and the easiest to clean. Grommets are what’s wrong. Nine times out of ten, a hookah that won’t pull properly has a perished or missing grommet, not a broken stem. They cost very little and we keep them in stock. Wash the hose, or buy a washable one. Disposable hoses exist precisely because this is the part people neglect. Setting up for the first time?
